Newsletter #11 – Find An Accountability Partner You Need Not Go At It Alone
Starting a new venture in life is a tough task. In my multiple outings trying to start something new, one thing I have noticed is staying consistent is tough. In such a situation having an accountability partner makes all the difference.

The Experiments
I am always experimenting with new things, a long-time reader of my blogs/newsletter would know I have given myself 1 year to experiment with everything I want to create/start using multiple approaches.
The last month has been one in which I specifically concentrated on reviving my old YouTube channel and starting a new one with a friend @thevivianrobert.
This new venture called The Global Desis is our brainchild on which we have been spending hours on end, We record our podcast every weekend, edit and push an episode out mid-week. On the channel, we talk about the experiences of expats from the Indian subcontinent on varied topics relevant to them.
Now this is a unique niche we are getting into, but the experience we have had is very important for any new creator/entrepreneur or ventures we work on in future. This experience taught us the importance of having an accountability partner.
Importance Of A Partner
When building up an idea it is tough to be consistent if you are at it alone. A lack of results can easily demotivate you. Being at it alone also reduces the avenues you drive inspiration from. But when you have others supporting you, the passion of the other person usually rubs off.
You feel more accountable to keep moving forward when you see someone working with you to work on the idea day in and day out.
This is the exact situation we have with “The Global Desis“.
We are always pushing each other to try new things, critique our work and experiment. When you are clear that you both are working towards the same goal, you are more receptive to what is discussed. The discussion also allows us to be real with each other, and share our insecurities, because we are sure we won’t be judged, but helped.
Vivian is in the UK and I am in Australia, so we have a lot of time between us to work and monitor our channel, because at all times one of us is awake. This also plays a huge role in the distribution of work, deriving high efficiency in delivering content.
In about a month our channel has had about 54 organic subscribers and cumulative views of almost 10k. This is huge at least for us a relatively new YouTube channel.
So how is this relevant to you, well this is just to highlight the importance of having someone to be with you when you try new things. Your fire may fizzle out when you are striving alone, but with someone else to support you, you will stay at it longer.
Finding A Partner
You may think everyone can’t find such a partner, but that’s where I think you are wrong.
The only thing that is stopping you from finding someone is your shyness in reaching out. In the age of social media, all you need to do is put yourself out there and look for people who share similar dreams and aspirations as you.
Do not be scared of shouting from the top of a building about what you aspire to start, let the world know and see who responds.
I did the same and made many such friends on the way, not everyone had the same aspirations as I did, but each individual was and is an inspiration in some way.
The only reason I am still at it is different people in my life who keep inspiring me, and ensuring I do not give up.
Do drop in a comment if you are in the same boat as me or in the early stages of venturing out and looking for someone to tag along. I can join you, or introduce you to someone who might be interested in your idea.
Hope this content helps you open up and reevaluate your approach to your dreams.
Hope it made you realise, “You Need Not Go At It Alone”.
